The Copa Libertadores reaches its conclusion tomorrow night (Wednesday, August 16) at 9pm EST in Porto Alegre as Internacional and São Paulo take each on for the second time. Internacional enters the contest with a 2-1 lead on aggregate following last week’s match in São Paulo. Internacional has never won Libertadores while defending champions São Paulo have won three times (1992, 1993, and 2005).
Whether Real Betis’ on-loan striker Ricardo Oliveira will play will certainly be a deciding factor in the outcome of the match. According to ESPN’s Soccernet, Oliviera’s loan contract with São Paulo terminated on August 11. It will be interesting to see if the Spanish team takes Libertadores into consideration. SoccerSpot highly doubts they have or will.
Another face on the pitch worth watching will be Internacional star, Rafael Sobis, a 19-year old prodigy some say will be the next major Brasilian export to Europe. He scored both goals for Internacional in the first leg of the finals. SoccerSpot fancies that he will go next summer or not at all, but that the Brasilian football association will try to pull a Robinho on whoever comes calling at Sobis’ door. He won’t be going anywhere, however, until he begins to go by one name.
